Magical abstract realism
Leo Lemmens has developed his own unique style, magical abstract realism. This style combines realistic elements with abstract forms and colors. His paintings, made with acrylic paint on canvas, bring realism and abstraction together in a captivating interplay of colors. In his works, Leo uses recognizable figures, such as people, animals and objects, blending them with abstract backgrounds.
Leo aims to inspire people with his art and invite them to view art in a different way. His works encourage viewers to pause longer and discover the meaning behind the details. Each painting tells a story and leaves room for the viewer’s personal interpretation.
With his magical abstract realism, Leo Lemmens knows how to captivate a wide audience. He wants to guide the viewer on a journey where the artwork gradually reveals itself and sparks personal discoveries.

From portrait to abstraction
Leo Lemmens (°1949, Mortsel) honed his talent at Sint-Lukas Brussels and various Belgian art academies. He started out as a portrait painter, known for his detailed depiction of people, horses and dogs. Over the years, his work evolved, exploring increasingly abstract forms.
His art has earned him international recognition, with exhibitions in Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and the United States. Thanks to Marc van Eeckhoven, Leo came into contact with Jan Stalmans (manager of Paul Mara), whose recognition strengthened Leo’s growing success. With a passion for color and composition, he continues to innovate and surprise.
